Annual Election – Operating Committee

At the Harvest Picnic the gardeners in attendance re-elected Kim Repinski and Dave Kuebler to another three year term. Mary Ellen Stasek was also elected to the committee for a three year term.

Bruce Page resigned from the committee due to other commitments. Chairman John Jenkins nominated Mike Kelly to fill the remainder of his term. The committee voted to accept Mike Kelly. Mike will serve on the committee until the 2013 Harvest Picnic at which time gardeners will elect to permanently fill the position.

Operating Committee Officers

After five years of serving as the Chairman of the Operating Committee John Jenkins has stepped down from the position. John will remain a committee member and will continue to help keep the garden running smoothly.

The officers of the Operating Committee are as follows:

Chairperson – Kim Repinski
Vice Chairman – John Jenkins
Secretary – Lisa Young
Treasurer – Jeff Kostura

At the Harvest Picnic the membership voted to accept the proposed changes to the Operating Committee By-Laws. The By-Laws may be downloaded here.

Garden Coordinator

In 2012 the Benjamin Franklin Community Garden welcomed Taras (TJ) Oryshkewych as the Garden Coordinator. As Garden Coordinator TJ became a part-time member of the Old Brooklyn Community Development Corporation staff. As coordinator TJ provided assistance to gardeners where needed, oversaw the volunteer crews that worked within the grounds, ensured the four hunger center plots were well maintained and coordinated the delivery of over 7,000 pounds of produce to hunger centers.

We are happy to announce that TJ will return as Garden Coordinator in 2013.

Committee Meetings

Meetings are Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. at the Old Brooklyn CDC office at 2339 Broadview Road, Cleveland, 44109. All gardeners are welcome to attend. Upcoming 2013 dates are:
