Treadway Creek Greenway & Trail Opening

On December 1st neighbors gathered at Harmody Park to celebrate the opening of the new all-purpose trail in the Treadway Creek Greenway.

Hot chocolate, cider and pastries were enjoyed as well as golf cart tours of the two-third's mile-long trail and 20 acre greenway/ravine. See coverage in the January issue of the Old Brooklyn News.

It is hoped that there is interest in neighborhood stewardship of the greenway and trail and that residents will volunteer to assist with periodic maintenance, environmental management and safety issues.

The official opening of the trail is scheduled for May 16, 2008, 8:30 a.m. and will include City and State officials. This neighborhood opening is intended to celebrate the completion of the $1.3 million project, promote the use of the trail and begin to organize community support for maintenance and safety issues for this new public amenity. Participants can choose to attend all day or in the morning or afternoon sessions. Both include workshops and tours of area neighborhoods. A registration fee of $5.00 is required no matter what sessions you will participate in. A $5.00 gas card will be provided to all who attend.

• 9:00–10:00   Morning registration including continental breakfast and market overview.
• 10:00–Noon   Workshops on choosing a home and being ready to buy; and maintaining a home -OR- you can choose the tour of homes and neighborhoods.
• Noon–1:00   Afternoon registration, lunch, and market overview.
• 1:00–3:00   A repeat of morning workshops and tour of homes and neighborhoods.
