About the event
Join us on Arbor Day weekend to spruce up the trees at Loew Park with fresh mulch, tree tags, and by pulling weeds. We will also use this time to clean up the park to keep it looking fresh for the warmer weather!
The Old Brooklyn Tree Stewards will lead attendees on a tour of the trees and provide tags in which you can name the tree and learn about its benefits!
What will volunteers do?
Volunteers will be shoveling or moving mulch in a wheelbarrow to the trees, picking up litter using buckets and pickers, pulling weeds, or lightly tying small tree tags to the trees with our tree stewards. This is a family and kid friendly event!
What will volunteers need to bring or wear?
Volunteers should wear comfortable clothes they don't mind getting dirty. Closed toed shoes are a must. Dress for the weather (i.e. sun, wind, rain). Please bring a water bottle. There will be a jug to refill on site.
Gloves, shovels, knee pads, weeders, and any other tools needed will be provided. Feel free to bring your own if you choose.
What should volunteers know about the location?
We will be meeting in the parking lot on the corner of Oak Park and W. 30th Street. You will see a sign that says Loew Park. The parking lot is next to William Cullen Bryant Elementary School.
